There are a great variety of signs that we see on the road every day. Signs regarding bikes have typically read something along the lines of, "Share the Road." The hope was that these signs would encourage drivers to allow bicycles to use the lanes just as a car would. However, this has not been the case, as bikes are routinely discriminated against and are usually forced ride on the outside of the lanes. Studies have proven that the safest place for a biker is the middle of the lane, just as it would be for a car. Some officials have realized this problem and have introduced a clever way to remedy the issue. By rephrasing signs to say something like, "Bikers May Use Full Lane" gives bikers the undeniable right to use the full lane, just like the other cars on the road.
This type of sign change should be implemented nation wide because it can help promote the safety of all bikers. By using this type of language, there is no possibility of drivers finding any loopholes to use against bikers.
